- If you are interested in adding life to your years and years to your life then maybe you may want to consider some type of physical fitness exercise or activity. One of the most popular excuses for failing to exercise is not having enough time. you can always find the time to exercise. No matter how busy your schedule is.
While most people acknowledge how important exercise and physical fitness and activity are to the human body, few are regularly active enough to receive significant health benefits. Estimates suggest that 40% of the American population is considered completely sedentary, while less than 20% are active at an intensity and frequency recommended for cardiovascular health. Worse yet, the dropout rates for those who do begin exercise programs reach 50% or more by the end of the first six months.
When you focus on fitness, you need to factor out two things. First, what is your perception of exercise? If it's negative, find away to change your perception or exercise because we all know exercise increases your heart rate, so in turn it cleanses your blood stream, thereby promoting good health and fitness. Second, what exercise programs are convenient and do you enjoy? Make a list and Convictions of the Heart assures you that you'll stick with your health promoting fitness and exercise program.
- You may want to ask the following questions to yourself:
- How do you feel about the health and fitness value of exercise?
- Do you feel going to a gym or exercise activity in general is overly uncomfortable or difficult?
- Is your fitness or exercise program convenient? (time of day or schedule flexible)?
- What is your accessibility to fitness or exercise facilities?
- What stimulates you more; home fitness and exercise, outdoor activities, dance classes, or just plain old fitness and exercise indoors at a gym?
- Is your fitness or exercise program varied enough to maintain interest and diminish boredom?
- Have you set up some regular notes or times in your daily schedule to remind yourself to exercise?
- Exercise and fitness is a way of life. Do you have an on going exercise or fitness support system? Your determination in your own mind is the best exercise and fitness support system for you. Here are a few Convictions of the Heart expressions to keep your momentum in physical fitness and exercise. *Be realistic. set attainable goals. This will help from becoming frustrated later. *Build on success - start moderate/build your own endurance. *Create variety - start basic ( everyone ease their one day ) then add new health and fitness exercises into program. Keep your fitness and exercise routine exciting.
- Connect to fitness and exercise - remember it's good for you physically and mentally. Pay attention to your form and what your goals are during exercise-your mental status reflects your fitness results.
- Make your exercise non-negotiable. Think of it as something you do for your health without question. Like brushing your teeth or going to work. Using exercise and fitness as part of your lifestyle will help you make fitness and exercise a habit. Remember physical fitness and exercise is the first requisite of happiness and cannot be acquired by wishful thinking nor by outright purchase.
